Les Invalides visit

A very Napoleon afternoon.

I ticked a few things off the bucket list last November, one of which was a visit to Les Invalides, Paris. Tip 1- take a spare battery for your camera. Mine fizzed out just as I was getting to the Napoleonic section, forcing me to return two days later (curses!). What an incredible place it is.
Tip 2- allow at least 1 full day, the wife won't mind.

French Dragoon. Judging by the facings I would say he is from the 23rd regiment.

Cuirassier cuirass and helmet. Sapper armour in the background.

Ye Gods!

Ye Guides!

Dragoon habit. Love the less faded cloth where his belts were.

A date with the Emperor's daughter. We kissed.

Line infantry officers habit

Needs no introduction.

It all depends on that article there...

ACW clash

As the required number of troops for the full Gaines Mill scenario had not yet materialised, and being eager to test my new field and it's practicality for gaming, we improvised a fictional battle with what we have so far. Here's some pictures.

Morell's Union division engaging the Confederate centre under D.H..Hill.

Slocum advances on the Union right towards Ewell's men.

A well timed charge by the Louisiana Tigers (background) checks the Union advance!
Glorious!

My reserve brigade and battery about face to help the Texans fend off an ill-fated attempt to outflank us! (In my unashamedly biased opinion)
